POD (Proof of Delivery)

Also called: proof of delivery

How it works

When PODs sit on phones or in WhatsApp, freight bills go out late and disputed bills cannot be backed up. Attaching the POD to the LR and sending the invoice with it speeds up payment.

As an illustration, if ₹30 lakh of freight a month is billed 10 days late and money costs 12% a year, the delay costs about ₹9,863 a month.

Example

₹30,00,000 × 12% × 10 ÷ 365 ≈ ₹9,863 a month (assumed figures).

Frequently asked questions

Why do transporters wait for POD before billing?

Because customers usually pay only against a delivered consignment, and POD is the proof that it was delivered.
