How it works
Each line of a BOQ names one item of work, such as excavation or RCC, the unit it is measured in, the quantity in the contract and the agreed rate. Amount is quantity multiplied by rate, and the BOQ total is the contract value before GST.
The BOQ changes during a project. Revisions and variation orders add, remove or re-rate items, so the current contract value is the original BOQ plus approved changes. Keeping each revision with its history is what lets a contractor state the contract value on any date.
Example
RCC M25: 210 cum × ₹7,850 per cum = ₹16,48,500. The BOQ is the sum of every such line.
