In-hand salary calculator (CTC to take-home)

Your in-hand salary is your monthly gross salary minus employee PF, employee ESI (if gross ≤ ₹21,000), professional tax and income-tax TDS. Gross itself is your CTC minus the employer's PF, ESI and gratuity contributions, which are part of CTC but never paid to you monthly.

Commonly 40–50%
50% metro, 40% non-metro
Varies by state — e.g. ₹200 in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Punjab; nil in Delhi

Income tax assumes no income other than salary and the new regime. HRA exemption, if you rent and choose the old regime, can lower TDS further — compare both in the TDS calculator.

How CTC becomes in-hand salary

  • CTC = Gross salary + Employer PF + Employer ESI + Gratuity provision (+ bonus, insurance).
  • Gross salary = Basic + HRA + Special allowance (and other allowances).
  • In-hand = Gross − Employee PF − Employee ESI − Professional tax − Income tax (TDS).

Why basic % matters

PF and gratuity are both calculated on basic. A higher basic means more retirement savings but lower monthly in-hand pay, unless PF is restricted to the ₹15,000 wage ceiling.

Frequently asked questions

How much in-hand salary will I get from 10 LPA?

With 40% basic, PF on the ₹15,000 ceiling, gratuity in CTC, ₹200 PT and the new tax regime, a ₹10 lakh CTC gives roughly ₹77,000–78,000 per month in hand (no income tax, because taxable income stays under ₹12 lakh). Enter your exact structure above for your figure.

Is employer PF part of my CTC?

Usually yes. Most Indian employers include their 12% PF contribution in CTC, which is why gross salary is lower than CTC ÷ 12.

Is income tax zero up to ₹12 lakh?

Under the new regime for FY 2025-26, taxable income up to ₹12 lakh has no tax because of the Section 87A rebate. With the ₹75,000 standard deduction, salary up to ₹12.75 lakh is effectively tax-free.
