FEFO (First Expiry, First Out)

Also called: first expired first out

How it works

FIFO issues the oldest receipt first, which is not always the batch that expires first. With FEFO, stock picked for each order is the earliest-expiring batch that is still valid.

In ERPNext the pick order for batches can be set to Expiry in Stock Settings, and the Warehouse OS picker has its own FEFO setting.

Example

If Batch A expires in March and Batch B, received earlier, expires in June, FEFO issues Batch A first.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FEFO and FIFO?

FIFO issues the oldest-received stock first. FEFO issues the earliest-expiring stock first, which is what protects items with a shelf life.
