How Quanta Distributors moved from MARG to cloud accounting with AI agents
Quanta Distributors is a Chandigarh-based distributor of orthopaedic implants and surgical consumables, supplying hospitals across the region. Every product is batch- and expiry-tracked, and many items are supplied to hospital operation theatres on consignment.

The challenge
- Accounts and inventory were on MARG, and the whole year’s ledgers, items, batches and vouchers had to move across without losing the link to the original entries.
- Every purchase line for an implant distributor needs the right batch number, expiry date and HSN code, and supplier bills carry many lines each.
- Three bank accounts had to be reconciled against the books.
- Implants sent out against a supplier and later settled with a different batch needed tracking without editing the original transaction.
What WebSoftOS set up
Full migration from MARG
The whole financial year so far was moved across: 689 ledgers, the item master, opening balances and all 3,741 sales, purchase, payment, receipt and journal vouchers. Each voucher keeps its original MARG voucher number in a dedicated field, so any entry can be traced back to the old system.
Batch and expiry on every purchase line
Item-wise batch and expiry details were brought in from brand stock reports, and supplier e-invoices were read to put the real batch number, expiry and HSN code on purchase bills — following Quanta’s own rule that every purchase line must carry batch and expiry.
Bank statements reconciled
Statements from three bank accounts were imported, and 92% of bank lines were matched to their accounting entries automatically; the rest were left for the accounts team to review.
Hermes AI agents in the accounts team
Four Hermes agents — Finance, Sales, Inventory and HR — work inside the ERP. Staff ask questions in plain language, and the Finance agent can read a photographed supplier bill or proforma and prepare a draft purchase invoice or purchase order. Agents only create drafts: an accountant reviews and submits every document.
Fast keyboard entry
Tally-style quick-entry popups for sales and purchase invoices, orders, journal and payment entries let the team key routine vouchers without leaving the keyboard.
Consignment batch settlement
A small custom workflow records stock sent out against a supplier and its later settlement with the same or a different batch, without editing the original transaction.
